How To Convert DVD-Video Movies to Nero Digital(TM)

Click on Convert DVD-Video Movies to Nero Digital(TM) in Nero StartSmart to convert DVD-Video titles and other non copy-protected video files into the Nero Digital(TM) format (MPEG-4) with Nero Recode.

Click the Import Files button in the Nero Recode window.

Browse for the DVD or video file you want to import. (Select either your DVD drive if the video file is on a DVD disc or select the folder on your hard drive if the video file is stored in your computer).

Highlight the video file in the Import Title window.

Click the Add Title button to import the video file.

The following options can be selected in the My Nero Digital Disc window when the video files have been imported to the project:

(1) Delete - Deletes the selected title.

This button is only enabled if a video file has been imported.

(2) Lock Ratio - Locks the quality of the selected video file to the current value.

This button is only enabled if a video file has been imported.

(3) Quality-Slider - Drag the slider to adjust the quality and size of the selected video file.

This button is only enabled if a video file has been imported.

(4) Start/End - Opens a window that shows the first and last frame of the imported video file.

This button is only enabled if a video file is highlighted.

Left screen: Slide to the frame where you want to start the movie.

Right screen: Slide to the frame where you want to end the movie.

Click the OK button to save the entries.

(6) Video - Opens the advanced Nero Digital Video Settings dialog.

This button is only enabled if a video file has been imported.

Refer to the Nero Recode manual for further details about Nero Digital(TM) profile options.

(8) Fit to Target - Click the drop-down button to select the target size of the DVD.

The Fit to Target check box is marked by default. This means that the original disc contents will be automatically recoded to fit the size of the inserted blank disc (in as much as it is technically possible).

If the Fit to Target check box has been disabled, the size of the copy does not depend on the size of a disc.

(9) Profiles - Nero Recode allows you to import and to create profiles. A profile specifies which audio tracks and subtitles are chosen when DVD-Videos and other video files are imported. This information is stored in the profile and can be called up again.

The number of profiles that can be created depends on how the DVD-Video is copied.

Simply select the profile you want to use before you start the burning process.

(10) Nero Digital profile - Select the Nero Digital Profile you want to use for your project:

Refer to the Nero Recode manual for further details about Nero Digital Profiles.

(11) Configure - Change settings (i.e. language settings) or the path for temporary folders.

(12) Erase Disc - Nero Recode erases the DVD disc in the recorder drive.

(1)

(2) Opens a dialog to import data files.

Browse for the data files you want to use and highlight them before you click the Add button.

(3) Delete - Deletes the selected title.

This button is only enabled if a video file has been imported.

Click the Next button to finish your Nero Digital(TM) project.

Select the path to which you want to save the DVD project.

Folder for temporary files - (This option is available if you have not selected the Hard Disk Folder as destination, but a CD/DVD Recorder drive or the Image Recorder.)
